Class Receives Books
As part of World Book Night, Mrs. Marybeth Thorne presents copies of Because of Winn-Dixie to 4th grade students in Mrs. Hale's classroom. World Book Night is a celebration of reading and books when tens of thousands of people share books with others in their communities across America to spread the joy and love of reading on April 23. April 23 is the UNESCO International Day of the Book, chosen in honor of Shakespeare and Cervantes, who both died on April 23, 1616. (It is also the anniversary of Shakespeare's birthday.) In the Catalan region of Spain, the day is celebrated by giving a book and a flower to a loved one.

Dr. Wanda Dawson, Pamlico County Superintendent of Schools, met with the Third Graders and shared two of her favorite Dr. Seuss books. The students interacted in the reading of Green Eggs and Ham, chiming in on the repeated phrase, " I do not like them Sam I Am. I do not like Green Eggs and Ham." Her second book was O, The Places You'll Go!

Fourth Graders were entertained by Pamlico County Board of Education president Mr. Reggie Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins shared his favorite Dr. Seuss book by reading I Can Read With My Eyes Shut.
Fifth graders listened to and enjoyed Daisy - Head Mayzie presented by Mrs. Vickie Sevenski, Pamlico County Schools Administrative Assistant.
